I was devastated to see that Derry was brutally murdered, he seemed like such a nice young man, wanted to do the right thing.Jeepers Creepers 2 isn’t anything great and doesn’t quite have the same atmosphere as the first half of the original, however on the whole it’s still an entertaining horror-thriller with more tinge of humor thrown in this go around. If they're completely realistic, I get too scared! Possible nightmares. This creates my favorite kind of horror movie. Thankfully, the creeper was not believable.
Everything they did, their reactions, are all believable. The brother and sister were believable characters. I was devastated to see that Derry was brutally murdered, he seemed like such a nice young man, wanted to do the right thing. The End - 1 star: Was that a flying monkey? Summary - 2.2 stars The Film - 2 stars: This has Eileen Brennan, but not much else. Hook/Pace - 3 stars: Builds nice and steady. The Horror - 3 stars: Evolving Demon With Twisted Needs. I hope the screaming/crazy lady with the dreams (Patricia Belcher) comes back, she has some 'splainin' to do. But the teens continue the stupid stuff, the cops are relatively silly. Do they have what it takes to make a monster happy? The fab Eileen Brennan briefly appears: she's great/edgy enough to have had a larger role. Gina Philips/Justin Long are beautiful 'screaming teens' and compared to most other horror casts, they are very good. Besides, people start doing stupid things five minutes in and aren't we in a post "Scream"/"Scary Movie" universe now? The 'creature' does have an interesting, original evolution though. "My 31 Films for Halloween, 2021." In the mood for an old-school monster flick? "Jeepers Creepers" fits the bill and you can see it's old-school from the opening shot: a car on a road isn't filmed from the skies but instead horizontal with the pavement. I like to repeat view and imagine where the Creeper comes from. Not enough films today leave things up to the imagination. The mystery surrounding the Creeper is one of the things I love about this movie. One of the major criticisms of this film is that there are "things left unanswered". The effects are top notch and the finale is a cool mash up of action and horror straight out of the Terminator. Jeepers Creepers is one of my top ten favourite horror movies of all time, Mostly due to a hauntingly creepy, nail biting first act and a convincingly horrifying monster. "Every 23rd spring for 23 days, it gets to eat". A joy to watch with amazingly framed shots and some exciting suspense. The story was pretty cool with occasional cheese.
My biggest gripe was that it wasn't intense enough. The tension and suspense builds perfectly to an excellent ending. Only gripe was that the truck at the start didn't have enough bass. In fact, this has some of the best music in a horror movie ever. There were one or two slips along the way (mostly with lighting and flares) but overall a delight to look at. You probably wouldn't even know that it was CGI. This film also contains the best use of CGI in any film ever. In fact all of the movement was perfect for the film. There were some truly amazing camera-moves.
